It is projected that by 2023, the majority of women in major cities will prefer to use telehealth services over traditional appointments with their physicians. This shift is being driven by a number of factors, including the proliferation of mobile devices and apps, growing concerns about privacy and security, and the desire for greater convenience and flexibility.

While there are some who believe that telehealth will never completely replace in-person visits, it is clear that this mode of care is on the rise and will continue to gain popularity in the years ahead. If you’re a doctor who wants to stay ahead of the curve, it’s important to start offering telehealth services now.

The number of adults using telemedicine has increased by 37% in just one year. Women are more likely than men to have used this service, with 42 percent reporting they did so in comparison to 31% before the pandemic.

Telemedicine is becoming more popular as the population continues to demand care that cannot be delivered in their local area. The use among those with higher incomes seems like it would increase even further.

Research findings indicate that there are differences in use by sex, age, race and Hispanic origin, family income, education level, region, and urban domiciles.

Women were more likely than men to have used telemedicine. Non-Hispanic White and non-Hispanic adults were more likely to use telemedicine than non-Hispanic Black, non-Hispanic Asian, and Hispanic adults.

Additionally, telemedicine use was highest among those living in the Northeast and West regions, and use increased with age, education level, and family income.

Telemedicine use was highest in large metropolitan areas and decreased with decreasing urbanization levels.

The trend of women preferring telehealth services is only going to continue to grow in the coming years. This presents a huge opportunity for healthcare providers and technology companies alike to invest in this space and capitalize on the shifting preferences of consumers.
